"...there does seem to be a most improbable irony in the names of Mr. Obama and his Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
Obama, in the Kenyan tongue, means, 'He is with us.' At the same time, in Hebrew, Emanuel means, 'God With Us.' That Rahm Emanuel's middle name is Israel is surely not insignificant.
In and of themselves, the names mean little, as has been demonstrated regarding the names and dates in the lives and deaths of Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. But in the context of all that we see about us today, it is at the very least a compelling irony."
